It is a huge area of sand dunes with patches of water surrounded by abundance of animal and plant species. You will also witness dormant red and black lava flows, which can be quite a sight if you have never seen them before. So, when visiting Rocky Point, head to the El Pinacate and Gran Desierto de Altar Biosphere Reserve. See why UNESCO considers this place so important.
The gorgeous beaches
The second thing you should check out are the beaches. The main reason why people spend their vacations in Rocky Point are the beaches. Beaches like Playa Arenosa, Las Conchas, and Sandy Beach are so beautiful, that people even consider moving here for their retirement. And, who can blame them, especially if they’ve spent their lives in a big city? So, if you plan on moving out of Brooklyn with ease and spending your retirement in a nice, sunny place. Consider Rocky Point. There are few places in the world that have the beaches and the climate that Rocky Point has.
Francisco Leon Garia Stadium
Having a bit of a sports fever while spending your summer vacation in Rocky Point? Then you better head on to the Francisco Leon Garia Stadium. Check it out and see baseball as the young people of Mexico play it. All you need to know is that the local team is call Tiburones, the tickets are $5 and the best time to visit is in April and July. So, if you find yourself in Rocky Point during late spring, be sure to check out Francisco Leon Garia Stadium.
Malecón
Once you get your fill of sand, sea, and sports, you should check out the actual city. See what the culture is like and why so many people chose to buy homes here. And what better place to do so then the Malecón. Here you’ll be able to take a nice stroll, have a bite to eat, and see what the people living in Rocky Point are like. There are numerous restaurants here that offer authentic Mexican food. Also, excellent hotels where you can stay for a reasonable price. Overall, it is hard to imagine a summer vacation in Rocky Point without spending time in the Malecón.
Do not leave Rocky Point without trying some authentic Mexican food.
La Ostionera de Puerto Peñasco (oyster farm)
Visiting local restaurants in order to experience authentic Mexican cuisine is all well and nice. But, if you are a true seafood enthusiast, then you must visit the local oyster farm La Ostionera de Puerto Peñasco. There you can witness the whole process of how oysters are cultivated, and then plucked and shucked right before your eyes. There is no better way to try fresh oysters then head there by yourself.
Once you do try them, you will see that your journey to Rocky Point was well worth the time and money.
