Top Mexico Honeymoon Destinations

The country of Mexico arguably has the best beaches and tourist attractions in the world and makes for a perfect honeymoon spot. We are here to show you all the destinations that will provide you with a splendid honeymoon.

Cancún, a honeymoon destination near the Caribbean Sea

Cancún is located on the northeast coast of Yucatán Peninsula. The Caribbean Sea encompasses this city full of Mayan culture. Likewise, the city itself surrounds the grand Nichupte Lagoon. It is great for its vast nightclubs and prehispanic civilization ruins. If you are hungry, there is always delicious, fresh seafood. Furthermore, if you want to catch a terrific view of the Caribbean Sea, you can visit the Torre Escenica. It is a grand way to spend your honeymoon. In addition, the city’s prosperous buildings can be seen from up there. All of this makes Cancún one of the best honeymoon destinations in Mexico.

Cozumel is an island honeymoon destination

“The island of swallows” is the country’s largest Caribbean island. It is a natural beauty. Mangrove forests cover a lot of the island and coral reefs surround it. You might see a shipwreck while on your boat ride here. It is an educational and eco-friendly experience. It is like an underwater paradise. While in Cozumel, you can also dive along the Santa Rosa Wall and explore its gracious open caves. Furthermore, you will encounter many species of fish as well as turtles. If you need help packing for your honeymoon, head over to preferred-movers.com.

Acapulco is one of the most peaceful honeymoon destinations in Mexico

Truly, the most glittering of all honeymoon destinations. An important city and seaport to the state of Guerrero, Acapulco is also Mexico’s largest beach. You can enjoy a romantic sunset atop La Quebrada. Additionally, you and your spouse can relax at the amicable beach Barra Vieja. Enjoy home-cooked fish and lobster under a humble palapa and get a massage later. If you like this harmonious beach, you will also like Capilla de la Paz. It provides an impressive view of the Acapulco bay. While in Acapulco, you can also visit the breathtaking Playa Pie de la Cuesta. Here you can loosen up and enjoy the cool piña coladas. If you want to stay in Acapulco, consider buying a vacation home and have an eternal honeymoon.

San Miguel de Allende, one of many vibrant honeymoon destinations in Mexico

Known for its scenic churches, San Miguel is a colorful city that is simply full of life. You will find a lot of that in its center, Zocalo. The streets are very vibrant and cheery. You can sit in front of the marvelous pink stone gothic church and admire its architecture. Furthermore, you can enjoy your taco while mariachi bands are playing in the background. This city makes for a merry and romantic honeymoon experience. Before going off to enjoy your honeymoon, remember to bring everything you need with you. Professionals can pack your belongings efficiently. In conclusion, San Miguel is an authentic honeymoon destination.

Los Dinamos

This park is located on a hill above Mexico City. It is a lovely place for a picnic in solitude. It has clear air and beautiful nature in the middle of the city. This means you don’t even need to leave the city to get away from all the crowds. If you don’t enjoy picnicking, then you can enjoy a romantic dinner at the nearby restaurants. You absolutely need to try the quesadillas. Even though it might be hot in Mexico City, you need to bring a jacket and a hat. It can indeed be very chilling when you’re standing at the top of the mountain. You can also rent horses if you want to ride them through the forest or along the Magdalena River. You and your partner will surely enjoy the forests of Los Dinamos. Although the media will often say Mexico is a dangerous place, rest assured that Mexico is one of the safest places in the world.

Rocky Point

Located in Sonora, on the northern shore of the Sea of Cortez, Rocky Point is a fishing village well known for its shrimp. One of the great locations here is the Playa Bonita beach. The beach is clean and litter-free. So, you can sit and enjoy the hot sand. It is very relaxing to search for seashells here. Furthermore, you can rent jet skis from the locals and go on boat rides with them. The water goes as high as bathwater here. You will need to walk far away into the distance to have the water reach your knees. Here’s everything you need to know before going on a vacation to Rocky Point.

Riviera Maya

This tourism district is located just south of Cancún in Quintana Roo. It can be considered one of the most romantic honeymoon destinations in Mexico. You can visit the Akumal Beach. You can go snorkeling and encounter many sea turtles and fish here. This is a beautiful experience thanks to the crystal clear water. The district has a beautiful bay and laid back vibe. Additionally, you can visit Bejil-Ha. It has many cenotes and sinkholes. You can learn a lot about nature and the ecosystem here. In conclusion, Rivera Maya is full of interesting animals and splendid views.

Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve

Every spring, the monarch butterflies begin their migrations which last 8 months. During this period, they travel between eastern Canada and their heritage site. We do not know why and how they manage to always come back to this site. All we know is that it is a romantic experience. When it is cloudy, the trees appear to have autumn leaves. That is how many butterflies there are here. On a sunny day, however, the butterflies just keep flying around. Keeping track of them is nearly impossible. It’s almost as if they were forming a golden whirlwind. The kindling show of these beautiful monarchs is one of the most romantic experiences. You and your significant other will adore this site.

Retiring in Mexico

In a lot of people’s minds, Mexico is mainly seen as a desirable holiday destination, with its perfect sandy beaches and turquoise water, the hospitality of its people and a rich culture and history. For many years, people would come to visit and then dream of retiring in Mexico because they fell in love with the land and its people. In recent years, however, finances enter the equation, and people choose to retire in Mexico hoping to get more for their hard-earned dollar. As Mexico retirement is becoming increasingly more popular, it is questionable just how much of those people’s expectations are actually met once they move. So, what are the pros and cons of retiring in Mexico from the US or elsewhere?

Benefits of a Mexico retirement

Climate. This is perhaps an obvious advantage, but its importance shouldn’t be underestimated. Mexico’s year-round sunny weather is often one of the first things that draw people to think about retiring there. This is especially true if you are coming from a place where sunshine isn’t such a common visitor.

Sunny weather means you will have the opportunity to spend a lot of your time outdoors. It will allow you to really enjoy your days in retirement. You might choose to plant and work on a garden full of flowers or spices. You may just want to make the most of your proximity to the beach. If you are planning an active retirement in general, Mexico is the place for you. You will have to alter your routine slightly to include applying sunscreen and wearing a hat every day. You will surely agree that this is but a small price to pay. The only downside of Mexico’s climate is the risk of hurricanes (in the South).

Keeping yourself active during your Mexico retirement

If you decide to retire in Mexico, chances are you have an adventurous spirit and aren’t quite planning to spend your retirement sitting on the porch reading or knitting. Mexico is an ideal place for those planning an active retirement. The beaches are an obvious spot for recreation and enjoyment, but the fun doesn’t stop there. Besides swimming, diving and snorkeling, Mexico also offers incredible opportunities for fine dining.

Not only that, but if you get sick of trying out the restaurants that are on the fancier side, there are plenty of street food vendors where you are likely to taste some of the best foods Mexico has to offer. Most Mexican towns also boast lively markets and there are also lots of historical sites worth visiting throughout the country. All of these activities hold ample opportunities for meeting like-minded people, and Mexicans are generally a people with a very sunny, friendly disposition.

Cost of Living

The favorable exchange rate between dollars and pesos means getting more for your money down south. On top of that, the cost of living in Mexico is much lower than that in the US, in most areas. As far as Mexican real-estate goes, beach-front properties can be on the pricey side because of their desirable location. In that case, experts suggest finding a property that’s slightly more inland but still close to the beach. This way your house won’t break the bank but you’ll still be close to the water. There is even a chance of actually saving money on your Mexico retirement if you keep your costs at an appropriate level, which shouldn’t be a problem.

The downsides of expat life in Mexico

Lifestyle changes

Experts suggest being careful when making a decision to move. This is true in general, but especially when you are moving to a different country. No matter how close it is, Mexico’s culture is still a lot different from what you are probably used to. Even if you thoroughly enjoyed yourself and liked everything on your holidays there, this does not mean you would enjoy living there. People make the mistake of retiring in Mexico for its climate and the financial benefits and completely disregard everything else. Once they are there, they are in for a rude awakening.

Things function a bit differently in Mexico. Being prepared for unpleasant surprises and being flexible when making any plans is necessary if you are hoping for a happy life in Mexico. Having an adventurous spirit and genuinely admiring the people and their culture will also be a great aid. Just be ready to adjust and in some cases abandon what you consider your way of doing things. One of the main expat annoyances is bureaucracy. Not only is it tedious when it comes to immigration in Mexico, but it is present in almost every aspect of life in Mexico.

Proximity to the US

So, you have decided to retire in Mexico. You’ve packed the things you will need and are leaving the rest behind. Perhaps you needed to find affordable long term storage units in your area where you left the belongings you probably won’t need when you go to Mexico. But they’re still there, ready for you to come and get them when you decide to. While you can do this with your things, unfortunately, you can’t with your friends and family that stayed behind. One of the downsides of living in heaven on Earth is that everyone and their uncle will feel the urge to visit you. It would be one thing if you had decided to retire somewhere across the world, but you haven’t. You’re right there. However, a less cynical view of this would be that it’s a bonus. You can get anywhere in the US in about 2 hours by plane. In Puerto Penasco-Rocky Point, Mexico, it’s a 1 hour drive to the Arizona border, then 2.5 hours to either Phoenix or Tucson

Driving around

While infrastructure is much better than it used to be, there are still some things to look out for. Many of the local roads have large speed bumps called topes that can damage the suspension on your car and even the tires. You may not notice them until it’s too late, especially if you’re driving at night. You should also bear in mind that the rules aren’t always what you would expect, so pay close attention to the signs.

Mexico Retirement

US News and World Report…by Kathleen Peddicord
The Case for Retirement in Mexico

Puerto Peñasco’s sandy beaches are accessible and affordable.

Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, was an unknown fishing outpost until the 1920s when Arizonan John Stone opened a hotel and casino targeting Americans who wanted to escape prohibition. Today, this town is known as Puerto Peñasco in Mexico and Rocky Point north of the border. Surprisingly, it got its English name first, in 1826, from a retired Royal Navy admiral who was in the area scouting for precious metals. In the 1930s, the Mexican president renamed the town Puerto Punta Peñasco, later dropping the “Punta.” download

Perhaps the biggest appeal of Puerto Peñasco to American retirees is that this spot is only 62 miles from the U.S. border. That’s just over three and a half hours by car from Phoenix, Arizona, or six hours from San Diego, California.

We Americans often overlook Mexico, because it’s right next door. Sometimes it feels too convenient to qualify as a retire overseas destination. However, that convenience factor is exactly why certain spots in this country can be perfect for both expat retirees and second home owners.

The New Hot Housing Market: Vacation Homes

It’s a good time to have a vacation real estate niche. Vacation home sales jumped to a record high in 2014, according to the National Association of REALTORS®’ 2015 Investment and Vacation Home Buyers Survey. Vacation home sales climbed to an estimated 1.13 million last year, the highest since NAR began its survey in 2003.

Retirees Living well in Mexico

Here is a short video by CNN about some American Retirees living in Mexico. They are in Puerto Vallarta, where I lived for nearly 3 years. See what one man said how he can afford his 3000 square foot condo on his social security!

Whether you are thinking of Puerto Vallarta or even in the town I am in now: Puerto Peñasco also known as Rocky Point, I can find the perfect retirement or vacation home for you. Did you know you could buy a beach condo here in my town for about $89,000? We are a 3.5 hour drive to either Phoenix or Tucson, so close to the US.

They have a very active social life and say they have more friends in Mexico than they ever did in the United States, mainly because Puerto Vallarta is full of people just like them.

According to local government estimates, there are around 35,000 U.S. and Canadian citizens living in Puerto Vallarta, many of them retired like Mike and Sara.

“We get together and we have happy hours, we have wine and appetizers, we have coffees in different neighborhoods and we get together at different restaurants,” Sara Wise says.

Medical care is another factor they considered when they decided to move here. To their surprise, they found more options for quality health care and at much more affordable prices than in the United States, including procedures like surgeries and advanced dental care.

“The accessibility to the doctors is something that we never experienced in the United States and from what we understand it’s getting more difficult, not less,” Mike Wise says. “And the cost is somewhere between a quarter to a half of what things cost in the U.S.”

Puerto Vallarta has adapted to this relatively new, foreign clientele. Around town, doctors and dentists put out signs in English, and often have English-speaking employees.

Kimberly Altman, 63, a retiree from California who has been living in Puerto Vallarta for three-and-a-half years, says a doctor’s visit is usually $40.

Rocky Point Home Port by Rocky Point 360

Article by Rocky Point 360:

At approximately noon on Jan. 29th, accompanied by Port and Merchant Marines Coordinator Guillermo Ruiz de Teresa, and numerous state and municipal officials, Sonora Governor Guillermo Padrés Elías paid a visit to Puerto Peñasco to review progress on breakwater construction of what will become the city’s Home Port.

After hearing technical details about the project, which began in earnest on January 3rd of this year following the project launch in December of 2013, Governor Padrés made assurances this would boost employment and tourism both for the port and Sonora itself. Investment in the project will reach nearly 600 million pesos.

Press Release-Home seller mistakes, Rocky Point Mexico

BIGGEST HOME SELLER MISTAKES

Survey of 1,000 Real Estate Agents Reveals the Top Six Ways to Sabotage the Sale of Your Home

Puerto Peñasco/Rocky Point: The most common reasons that a house will not sell in a good market are often well within the control of the home seller according to a recent survey by the ActiveRain online real estate community. In a poll of over 1,000 real estate agents, it was revealed that the top six ways home sellers turn potential home buyers away are: Biggest Home Seller Mistakes_ActiveRain_Full

  1. The home is overpriced
  2. It is difficult to set a showing time
  3. The seller is unwilling to depersonalize or de-clutter the home
  4. Unpleasant odors
  5. The seller is unwilling to negotiate with buyers
  6. The seller refuses to make repairs

Robin Miller, a local REALTOR® with Mexican Beach Homes, confirms that these same findings hold true for homes in  Puerto Peñasco-Rocky Point Mexico. “It is up to the agent to educate the seller on aspects of the home selling process that can instantly turn off a potential buyer,” stated Robin. “However, some sellers get on the defensive when you point out their unreasonable price expectations, pets, odors, housekeeping, and other conditions, so it is a very fine line to walk!”

Robin reflects on a time when several owners had purchased  vacation/investment properties at the height of the market, counting on the rental income to offset the expenses plus making a profit, were blindsided when the 2008 financial crisis hit. Prices started to plummet, buyers and renters were rare, and sellers were reluctant to price reductions to match the market. Real Estate professionals have the education to understand current market conditions. It is their job to share the truth with the sellers. Often sellers do not listen to the advice of the professional and want to wait until the market picks up, which it always does, in time. But by that time, several owners had lost their properties due to their reluctance, a costly mistake. Now that the market is on the rise again, sellers can only look back and wish they listened to the advice of their Rocky Point Real Estate Professional.

“I wish stories like this weren’t common in my line of work. A good agent needs to spend quality  time with their sellers before their house ever goes on the market to help avoid these expensive mistakes. They will have peace of mind that they educated their seller and performed their job.
