Checklist for Moving to Mexico

Checklist for Moving to Mexico

Moving from one city to another is a big move, let alone moving to a new country. If you are moving to Mexico in the near future or are even curious to know what you would need to know and do prior to your move, welcome! Within this blog, we are going to cover all elements of your checklist for moving to Mexico. We will evaluate how far ahead you should pack, how you should go about organizing the packing, and all other aspects of moving in general. By the end of this text, you are going to be excited about your move to Mexico as we will try to make it as least stressful as possible.

Organize your move to Mexico with a checklist!

Moving to Mexico-Checklist 101

The first element of your moving to Mexico checklist and probably the most essential one when it comes to moving to any country is your documentation. Ensuring that your passport is up to date so you can travel freely, into and exiting different countries. The next document that is just as important as a passport is your visa. You must make sure that your visa, whether it is work or living, is prepared ahead of time.

If you are moving for work, most of the time, the company transferring or hiring you will take care of that aspect. Meanwhile, if you are moving there personally, make sure you receive your visa before you plan and organize anything else. It is up to you if you want to bring over your driver’s license as you will have to check regulations and requirements when it comes to driving in Mexico.

Moreover, bring your medical records and prescriptions with you just in case. This way you can be prepared ahead of time in case you require medical attention when you arrive in Mexico.

Documents Set-What’s Next?

Now that your traveling documentation is taken care of and ready for take-off, it is time to organize other components of your move. Take some time to think about what household items will be coming with you, and which ones might be staying. If you are selling the current place you are at, then perhaps having a garage sale might not be a bad idea. You could efficiently get rid of your furniture and gain some profit out of it.

Ensuring all necessary documents are prepared is key to moving anywhere.

Meanwhile, if you are thinking of bringing items with you, plan that well ahead of your move. Knowing what’s staying and what’s coming with you is a big element of your move, and how you will move. Also, ensure that you double-check which, if any, electrical appliances you plan to bring to Mexico. Smaller appliances will be easier to move; however, with bigger appliances such as the fridge, or the TV, it would be wise to schedule the move with a moving company. With capitalcitybins.us you can schedule your move to Mexico and be sustainable at the same time.

For the rest of your household items, you can use plastic bins to pack your belongings. Moving in general, and then later unpacking your belongings, will be much simpler if it’s all organized in separate plastic bins.

Once you have these physical aspects of your move all organized, moving to Mexico should be hassle-free. Your documentation and taking care of your belongings are one of the two most important steps to take care of before you move away.

Arrival Arrangements

When most things on your turf are taken care of and ready to go, time to think ahead about your future home. Relocation requires one to take care of both the place they are moving out of and the place they are arriving at. Do your research ahead of time, and perhaps even go visit your future home before your final move. This will allow you to check it out in person, and at least prepare the minimum for the day you arrive. Knowing that you have somewhere to go once you cross the border will for sure ease the move altogether.

Set a Solid Schedule

Following a schedule could help the moving process be less stressful. When you organize a schedule for your move, you are practically setting up an effective timeline to go by. This will ensure that you are on time with all the tasks and things that need to be done. In addition, it will guarantee that you won’t forget anything.

A schedule or timeline will help the moving process remain organized.

Create an actual checklist for your timeline, where you will jot down all important dates prior to the move. For example, months before the move, check your documentation. A few weeks later, research and book your move with a moving company. Furthermore, investigate the destination you are moving to. Are you flying or driving there? Where will you live in Mexico? Are your belongings coming at the same time you are or are you sending your items earlier? All these questions bring us to our next point on your checklist – your arrival to Mexico.

Welcome to Mexico!

Hopefully, by this point, you already have your accommodations all taken care of.  Presumably, when you were settling your old house back home, you also organized and prepared the location of your home in Mexico. Perhaps your work will organize that for you, but if it is up to you, you should take care of this ahead of time. Therefore, upon your arrival, all you must worry about it is settling into your new space and atmosphere.

Enjoy your stay in Mexico!

We could not stress enough how it is all about organization and timeliness. Moving to Mexico with a structured and efficient checklist will ensure that this is a fun and unforgettable experience. Plan ahead, consider all possible elements when moving, and have things set in motion prior to your move. This way, your move is not only easy to follow but smart as well. It allows you to move successfully and create your new habits and routines at your new home.
