Gadsden Hotel Douglas Arizona

I was with a friend last week who lost a family member, so 3 of us friends went on a 700 mile road trip to the funeral. We all live in Puerto Penasco-Rocky Point, Mexico. The services were in Douglas Arizona, then a quick visit across the border into Agua Prieta Mexico.

There was adventure at every turn on the drive there. Crazy hail storn on the freeway where many cars were pulled over waiting for it to pass. Then more rain on the drive there, then finally arrived in the early evening to the church for the service. That first evening we stayed at the Gadsden Hotel in Douglas Arizona. Had a chance to visit with the family, lots of love surrounding our friend. What a beautiful historic place to be. The owner, Florencio, took us up to our floor in the over 100 year old Otis elevator. The Tiffany glass is beautiful, and there was a wonderful grand staircase. History says that Pancho Villa was riding his horse up the staircase, and broke off a small piece of the stair with the hoof of the horse. The bar (I think Saddle and Spur) was very cute, I spent time there and the lounge in the lobby, learning new drinks from the owner, Rosa Anel. Yolanda the bartender was very sweet.

We had a very nice breakfast in the restaurant Casa Segovia, and the piano player in the lobby was awesome.

I also went in to the little museum inside the hotel, really cool, seeing photos from the old West.
Although the trip was for  a sad occasion, we still had a good time visiting friends and family. The Mass and services were beautiful. We so much enjoyed the hotel, where the owners were very welcoming and accomodating. Excellent customer service. We plan on another trip!

Rocky Point Update message to buyer

After writing to this prospective buyer/renter, I realized this would be a good informative article:
Hi (Miss buyer), thank you for your patience. Bottom line, Rocky Point is happening!
We had the real estate graduates celebration last night, I’m on the board and needed to be there, the Mayor was there, our President of our association, lots of students, 26 new licensees, they’re moving here to sell and rent and do business because the market has picked up quickly. There are properties that have been on the market even up to 3 years, now are selling. Rentals are harder to come by and when they do come on the market, they are snatched up. So you do run the risk of finally getting a rental, then 6 months later, you may start your home search, but the way things are going, your options may be limited. My job is to tell you the truth and these market conditions are crazy. In fact the rentals that you see on my site, may not be available by October. I know you said maybe a little earlier than that you could start, but it may not be early enough and I don’t want you paying for something you can’t use. So this is a start at least, The link below is to a San Clemente gated community, just came on the MLS hotsheet this morning, pet friendly, furnished, pool, these are hard to come by. It’s in the price range that people want and these go fast. This won’t last til October, it will get rented most likely by next weekend, that’s how fast the market has been moving.  
What type of price range are you looking for when you are considering your purchase? Do you need financing? Do you want a rental income opportunity? I have some ideas for you, I can send the links. Just wanted you to see what the market has now, the best deals, one I know of with owner financing. It’s sad when I have a client that sees something they like, they don’t pull the trigger, then the deal is already gone. My job is to show you reality so you can make an informed decision, whenever you do rent or buy.

And I like this home, the rental opportunity and especially the large, paved patio. It’s lovely.  Also great that the infrastructure has been redone. I see potential here. You really have given me a new idea about looking for a property with rental possibility.
The finance deal sounds reasonable, too. As far owner finance, do you have any idea what kind of interest rate she’s planning? I think I read that Mexico property loan rates presently range about 6.5-9%… is that applicable to Rocky Point???

Travel Weekly reports: Mexico: Int’l arrivals up 20% through June

Mexico’s international tourism grew 19.6% in the first six months of 2014 compared with the same period last year, according to figures released by the Bank of Mexico.

More than 14.2 million foreign travelers visited Mexico from January through June, spending $8.4 billion.

Puerto Vallarta, Come to the beach

The beach is just less than 2 Mexican blocks from my office. Mexican blocks are short!  It is nice to know that at any time I can leave and be at the beach in a 5 minute walk for a $1 beer at the Sea Monkey. They have palapas on the sand, and I can have my dog there. Not dog friendly under the building though. Just outside under the bar and under the palapas. Service is great. Food is good, as appetizer types go. I had a burger there once and it was really good.

Time to buy a place in Puerto Vallarta, so search the MLS here and find your place in the sun and head  “To The Beach”!

Good news for boaters heading to Mexico‘s vacation mecca at Puerto Vallarta: You can now dock your yacht or other medium-size boat at a newly reopened pier right off the city’s downtown area.

Called “Port of Los Muertos” (after the name of a nearby beach), the modernistic new docking area underwent a $2.4 million makeover as part of the city’s downtown renovation program. It features a surface of 2,182 square feet adjoining a waterfront promenade and scenic lighting.
