Mexico reports increase in tourism over the winter

Mexican tourism officials reported a 5.3% increase in the number of international visitors to Mexico from January through April.

More than half of the 4.1 million tourists who visited Mexico in the first third of the year were from the U.S. The number of Americans was up slightly from 2011.

The main destinations for foreign travelers were Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Huatulco, Riviera Maya and Cozumel.
