Mexico’s FIRST CRUISE SHIP HOME PORT TERMINAL is currently under construction. It began in late 2013, with the inaguration January 29, 2014. The Governor from the State of Sonora and our Mayor, along with other dignitaries attended the event and gave a wonderful presentation. If you haven’t heard yet, it is located in Puerto Peñasco/Rocky Point. Rocky Point is “Arizona’s Beach” and is 212 miles from both Phoenix and Tucson. Rocky Point is located on the North West area of Mexico’s mainland. This July 4th weekend I have seen MANY license plates from Texas and California and some from Colorado, and of course the majority are from Arizona. It is a short drive to the beach- The Sea of Cortez. Jacques Cousteau many years ago, came to the Sea of Cortez with his research team and discovered so many unique marine life forms he named it “The World’s Aquarium”. There is a new coastal highway that allows California visitors a shorter driving time, and a new International Airport (Named Mar de Cortez-Airport code PPE). With the new convention center, newly paved roads, Sam’s Club, Autozone (and many other new business) and updated infrastructure, it’s no surprise that our city was chosen for MEXICO’S FIRST CRUISE SHIP HOME PORT TERMINAL.
The project is estimated to be completed in late 2015. It is on Sandy Beach, where you can see the skyline of beachfront homes and condos. The condos and homes are selling daily. Beachfront condo prices start at $89k for a 1 bedroom, and I have access to bank foreclosures too where a 2 bedroom in the Las Palomas resort is $150k, if they are still available. Prices go up from here depending on the resort. Most regular condo resales are furnished. Excellent rental income for owners renting to ship passengers before and after their cruise.
